Speaker of Texas House of Representatives Forms Committee to Consider Gun Bill

“Texas House is committed to doing everything in our power to keep children and classrooms safe in our state,” Speaker Dade Phelan said in a statement.

Austin, Texas. Dade Phelan, Speaker of the Texas House of Representatives, has formed a House Select Committee on Public Safety that will consider gun-related legislation in the current state legislative session.

Phelan also said that those appointed to serve on the committee have extensive knowledge related to public safety and homeland security, as well as personal knowledge from their respective constituencies.

“I trust that the members of this committee will scrutinize the bill that will be presented to them, guiding the rest of our House to an intense and much-needed discussion in this legislative session,” Phelan added.
