Spaw on wheels? San Antonio woman launches mobile dog grooming business

Why go to a groomer when a groomer can come to you? A businesswoman in San Antonio asked the same question and set to work.

SAN ANTONIO – We all love our puppies, but sometimes they look a little “hairy”. A local dog grooming business makes caring for your pet convenient.

Pup Town Spaw, a mobile dog grooming business, caters to pet owners by visiting them.

They say their mobile salon is fully equipped to provide a full range of body care services, including a soft water hydrotherapy bath, natural shampoo and conditioner, dental cleanings and more.

Owner Priscilla Coral says mobile grooming is a win-win for both pet and owner.

“Pup Town Spaw is a mobile pet care business. So, we leave and pamper pets at the customer’s home. It is convenient, less anxiety for the dog. So actually less stress for both of them.”

Lucky, a Chow-Chow mix, was groomed at the mobile spa for about a year, this was because her owner followed her groomer to Pup Town for several years. Now they love it.

“I actually used it for about three or four years. She is very patient with me. I am very picky. She was very patient with me, knew what I liked, spoke to me the way I wanted,” said Lisa Ho.

If you have more than one pet, Pup Town Spaw can take two pets into its salon. They also look after our older furry friends, disabled pets or spoiled furry friends.

Spaw packages include the following as listed on their website:

  • Hydrotherapy bath with soft and filtered warm water
  • natural shampoo
  • Shampoo without tears for the face
  • Leave in conditioner
  • Dry
  • Comb gently
  • Professional nail cutting.
  • Sanitary area cleaning
  • Light finish on hocks, paw pads and pads
  • Gentle ear cleaning
  • Spray with fragrance
  • Bow or bandana

Baths for short-haired dogs start at $70 and go up to $80 for long-haired dogs.

For cats, prices start at $95.

There are also additional costs, such as if your pet is aggressive and requires more than one groomer.

Military personnel receive a free upgrade: nail polishing, teeth brushing, or improved shampooing.

There is a fee to enter someone’s home, and the website says it’s usually around $25.

Regardless of which you choose, the support of the community will benefit everyone, Coral says.

“I would say support for small businesses definitely. Whether you use us or not, mobile pet care is a wonderful experience for your pet,” Coral says.
