South Florida Gets Us Ready for the Friendship Walk with Best Friends

MIAMI (WSVN) – South Florida is gearing up for a big event to promote diversity, equality and inclusion.

This is Ed Ansin’s annual BFF Friendship Walk, named after the late owner of Channel 7.

On Monday morning, 7News gathered at Loan Depot Park to film the promotion and take a look at the event’s official appearance.

Each year, this walk brings together thousands of people from across South Florida to support the inclusion of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

The walk’s mission is to raise awareness of friendship, leadership development, and employment opportunities for people with IDD.

And this year it will be held at the home of the Miami Marlins.

“Diversity, equity and inclusion is a burning issue these days and Ed Ansin has been a leader in this, recognizing that everyone deserves a seat at the table, everyone deserves to have their voice heard and everyone deserves the opportunity to realize their dreams,” Anthony Shriver said. “And that’s what Best Buddies is about: support, encouragement, inspiration with intellectual disabilities to succeed.”

Ed Ansin’s Best Friends Friendship Walk takes place at Loan Depot Park on Saturday, April 8 starting at 8:00 AM.
