Soldiers to hold ‘Move Over’ conference in Orlando

ORLANDO, Florida. – The Florida Highway Patrol announced a “Move Over” press conference in honor of Austin Gein, who was fatally hit by a car while towing a truck in 2021.

The conference is part of Move Over Month, which reminds Florida drivers that they are required by law to cross the emergency and official vehicle lane.

The law requires vehicles to navigate at least one lane for ambulances, utility vehicles, construction or maintenance vehicles, and tow trucks, the military said. According to the FHP, the relocation gives law enforcement, first responders and other vehicles enough room to do their jobs more safely.

In a press release, the military said several speakers would be in attendance at the conference, including FHP Lieutenant Tara Crescenzi, owner Dennis Johnson of Johnson’s Wrecker Service, and Gein’s mother.

The conference is scheduled for 9 am on Monday, January 23 at 11059 International Drive.
