Small plane makes emergency landing on US 27 in Broward County

BROWARD COUNTY, Florida. A small plane had to make an emergency landing on a road in western Broward County on Wednesday afternoon.

The plane touched down on US 27 southbound at 39 miles at 3:30 pm, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

FHP spokesman Lieutenant Indiana Miranda said the Cessna Skyhawk had an engine failure at about 2,000 feet.

This prompted the pilot and his passenger to land on the road.

Miranda said the plane’s engine had recently been serviced and the failure should not have happened.

The Federal Aviation Administration is investigating the incident.

The aircraft was moved to the nearest boat ramp.

No injuries were reported.
