Silver Sands property sold to TPI Hospitality

FORT MYERS BEACH, FL — TPI Hospitality has acquired property on the site of the Silver Sands Resort on Estero Boulevard. right across the street from the future Fins Up Breach Club.

Margaritaville Resort Fort Myers Beach

In 1983, Silver Sands Resort was established as a residential condominium resort that combines patio residences and hotel units. Some of the buildings date from the 1960s. At some point, one of the residential units was converted into a restaurant on the corner of Primo and Estero streets. Andrea Groves was the owner and operator of the resort along with her late husband Tom. The restaurant was run by Adam Clark and Jason Unger as the famous Dog House.

Hurricane Yan completely destroyed the resort and could not be rebuilt as before due to new FEMA codes.

TPI Hospitality has purchased the property and intends to use the inherited population density rights to re-develop it as a resort. The developers say it will be an extension of the Margaritaville Resort, consisting of suites with balconies with parking underneath and shops along Estero Boulevard. Currently, the project is at the design stage, an application will be submitted to the city in the middle of the year, and construction will begin next year.

The main resort will open in late 2023 and the expansion will open in mid-2025.
