Identifying the bodies and planning funerals for immigrants killed in the Crescent Bay shooting has become an international task as foreign officials track down victims’ families in China and Mexico.

The consulates of both countries confirmed this to The Standard on Wednesday.

The Mexican Consulate General in San Francisco said two Mexicans were killed in Monday’s shooting and another was hospitalized.

The Chinese consulate in San Francisco told The Standard that the families of Chinese citizens killed in the massacre have already been notified.

“We are currently working with local law enforcement and have contacted the families of the victims in China,” the consulate said.

The San Mateo County coroner’s office identified six victims on Wednesday, and five names, Zhisheng Liu, Qizhong Cheng, Yetao Bing, Aixiang Zhang, Jingzhi Lu, appear to be written in Chinese pinyin. It is not clear how many of the victims were from China or Chinese citizens.

Both Mexico and China will provide visas and travel assistance to the families of the victims.

The suspected shooter, Zhao Chunli, 66, is a Chinese immigrant and speaks Mandarin. He is reportedly a Chinese citizen with a US work visa. He will stand trial today on murder charges in San Mateo County.

A shooting at two mushroom farms that left seven people dead and one injured shocked the nation and many immigrants.

As the second mass shooting of Asian suspects since the Monterey Park massacre, it also shocked the AAPI community.
