Shooting at Sonic in the tourist area of ​​Orlando led to the injury of a teenager

ORLANDO, Florida. – A teenager was shot dead Wednesday night in Sonic on International Drive near Orlando’s Grand National Drive, prompting a search for the perpetrator, police said.

Orlando police said a group of people were standing in the restaurant’s parking lot when an altercation broke out and shots were fired, injuring the teenager in the leg.

The victim was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, police said.

The officers then responded to a car accident near the site of the shooting.

Investigators told News 6 they believe a witness to the shooting took off and crashed into another vehicle. It is unclear if anyone was hurt in the crash, but police said they did not believe the crash was criminally related to the shooting.

Police did not release any information about the suspected shooter, but said the teenager was not the intended target.
