Shooting at gas station in California: 8 people injured, 1 person dead: police
Eight people were shot dead, including one killed, at a gas station in Oakland, California, on Monday night, police said.
The incident took place at a gas station on Seminar Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard around 6:00 pm local time, Kim Armstead, a spokeswoman for the Oakland Police Department, said at a press conference.
Officers arrived at the scene to investigate the activation of ShotSpotter and learned of the shooting upon arrival. Upon arrival, the police found no victims, but found several shell casings.
“Shortly thereafter, our communications department received notification of multiple gunshot wound victims who were self-escorted to local hospitals,” Armstead said.

Mario Navarro, 18, was identified by family members at Highland Hospital, according to KTVU.
It is not clear what caused the shooting. Police have not released any arrests or potential suspects.
Police said the seven surviving victims are in stable condition.
Investigators believe the shooting involved several armed men who may have fired their weapons from across the street.

Evidence was collected from two vehicles that may have been used to transport gun victims to the hospital.
The incident is under investigation, police said.
