Shonda Rhimes snaps up $15M Connecticut mansion

This land is Shondaland.

Shonda Rhimes has closed on a sprawling mansion in Westport, Connecticut for a staggering $15.17 million, The Post can exclusively reveal.

The “Grey’s Anatomy” creator purchased the 11-bedroom New England Colonial home from the married founders of the Melissa & Doug toy company, Doug and Melissa Bernstein, in a private sale, a local source said on Thursday.

“It’s a high sign that Westport is very valuable and that a big house in this town commands a lot of money no matter the neighborhood,” the insider said, noting it’s a rarity that non-waterfront homes sell for more than $10 million in the charming suburban town.

Reps for Rhimes didn’t respond to The Post’s requests seeking comment.

Amenities inside the megamansion include a basketball court, bowling alleys, an arcade, a home theater, a concession stand, a playroom, a billiards room, eight fireplaces and a kitchen with a pizza oven.

The home sits on a property spanning roughly 7.5 acres and additionally includes a tennis court, a pool, a playground, outdoor seating and dining areas, and an outdoor kitchen, Compass listing representative Karen Scott told Mansion Global.

“Honored to have represented my clients in the sale of this exclusive residential compound. Unparalleled almost everywhere, this magnificent property traded hands last week as the highest non-waterfront property transfer in Westport’s history,” Scott wrote in a post on Instagram on Wednesday, along with a video of the luxe estate.

The home stands in affluent Westport, located north of Manhattan in the Connecticut suburbs.

She added, “On behalf of myself, my partners on the KMS Team and Compass, we thank these long-time clients for again placing their trust in us to handle this discretely and professionally.”

Scott, through a brokerage spokesperson, declined The Post’s request for comment.

The Bernsteins reportedly purchased the land for $5 million in 2007 and built the stunning home a year later.

The Shondaland founder has spoken openly about her love for the Fairfield County beach town, which sits about an hour north of Manhattan.

“Most people [in Westport] are interested in their families and their lives … Somehow here none of that [fame] matters, and that’s delightful to me,” she said during a panel discussion moderated by Vanity Fair’s Radhika Jones at the Westport Library’s first annual fundraiser in June, according to the Westport Journal.

Rhimes sold her Los Angeles home for $7.2 million in 2019 after slicing $1 million off the asking price.

The “Bridgerton” creator also owns a New York City apartment inspired by the Netflix period series.

“I had been immersed in the romanticism of ‘Bridgerton’ for a while, so that had to influence some of the things that I had been thinking about,” Rhimes told Architectural Digest of the pied-à-terre. “Everything sort of spills into everything else. If I’m thinking about these books that we’re turning into a series, then that inevitably spills into how the apartment’s going to look, which inevitably spills into what goes in the scripts — it all sort of spins together.”
