Shark Tank star Kevin O’Leary fried for crying while buying expensive Swiss watch

Kevin O’Leary posted a video on his official TikTok account of himself shedding tears while buying a custom-designed Swiss luxury watch worth at least six figures, prompting social media users to ridicule the “Shark Tank” co-host.

O’Leary, who has almost 1 million followers on TikTok, posted a mobile phone video of himself admiring a steel Audemars Piguet Royal Oak watch with an openwork dial.

Audemars Piguet does not publish the prices of its watches on its website, but a quick look at several watch websites shows that similar models cost between $100,000 and $700,000.

Against the backdrop of dramatic piano music, an emotional O’Leary can be seen looking at his watch. Then he wipes the tears from both eyes with his left hand, holding the watch in his right.

“It’s incredible,” O’Leary says in a video he uploaded to his TikTok account on Monday.

“I can’t believe I’m holding it – the only one in the world,” O’Leary says in the 14-second clip.

O’Leary, known by the nickname “Mr. Great,” posted a 12.5-minute video on YouTube showing him at a watch salesman.

“It’s a great piece,” says O’Leary, the watch salesman.

“Oh my God,” O’Leary replies. “It’s so incredible. It made grown men cry.”

“It’s pure beauty,” enthused the Canadian-born investor, entrepreneur, and avid watch collector.

O’Leary said in his YouTube video that he was looking for a “hot dream” of a watch.

“I’m getting to the point where I have so many watches,” O’Leary said.

“When I want to bring in a new story, I need something so desirable, so hard to get, so hard to get – Royal Oak, steel, openwork, one of a kind, Shark. Tank watch.

In horological parlance, an “openwork” is a watch arranged in such a way as to show its internal mechanics, usually through a transparent window.

O’Leary said the process of creating the watch he plans to “feature in Season 15 at Shark Tank” began three years ago.

He boasted that the watch would become “the centerpiece of the fashionista himself, Mr. Wonderful.”

O’Leary said in the clip that he buys himself a collectible watch to reward himself for making a lucrative financial deal.

In the video, neither O’Leary nor the company’s representative lists the price of the watch. The Post has requested comment from Audemars Piguet.

However, the reaction on social media was mostly negative.

“Kevin O’Leary is a real coward [for] crying over the clock,” one Twitter user commented, adding, “WTF!”

“They do the same thing as a $15 watch,” another critic remarked.

“I got a watch from Walmart and cried too,” another TikTok user responded.

Another O’Leary skeptic tweeted: “Still don’t know how this guy made his money. He’s a total joke every time I see him.”

Others, however, took O’Leary’s tears much more indulgently.

“He doesn’t cry over the watch,” one TikTok user opined. “He’s crying because he realizes how far he’s come.”

O’Leary has made headlines in recent weeks after publicly defending his salaried position as spokesman for the now bankrupt cryptocurrency exchange FTX.

The Shark Tank star said he lost $15 million from his investment in FTX, which was founded by disgraced ex-tycoon Sam Bankman-Freed.

Bankman-Fried was charged by the federal government with financial crimes, including money laundering and wire fraud.

In his public comments, O’Leary declined to condemn Bankman-Fried, which is said to have used client funds to cover losses for his hedge fund Alameda Research, as a “scam”.
