Sh-ty Media Men writer settles libel suit with catalog creator

The Sh-ty Media Men-listed writer settled his defamation lawsuit with the catalog’s creator on Friday, new court documents show.

New Orleans writer Stephen Elliot was included in a crowdsourced table of sexual harassment allegations against men working in the media.

In 2019, Elliot sued list creator Moira Donegan for $1.5 million in federal court in Brooklyn, accusing her of defaming him and looking up the names of other women who contributed to the list.

Elliot and Donegan settled the lawsuit, but the terms were not made public, according to the case file.

The judge had previously rejected Elliot’s offer to reveal the identities of the other 30 women who anonymously contributed to the vault. Prior to this, Elliot’s lawyers had been unable to obtain information from Google.

Critics of the list said it was made up of unsubstantiated allegations and reckless, but Donegan, a freelance journalist, defended herself by saying, “I only wanted to create a place where women could share their stories of harassment and assault without being unnecessarily discredited or discredited.” . judge”.

Elliot’s lawyer declined to comment. Lawyers for Donegan did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
