Security Ready for the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

PEBBL BEACH, CALIFORNIA. (KION-TV) – Preparations for people to come and enjoy the tournament are almost complete.

The Monterey County Sheriff’s Office is also ready to secure the event, Lance Sheriff Keith Boyd said.

“We’ve been in the security business for these types of events for many years,” Boyd said. “And what we are doing is working with our regional partners and stakeholders at the event to develop an appropriate security plan. And then we’ll make it happen.”

Some who come to watch the tournament may be concerned about the recent mass shooting, as it will be a very large gathering of people.

Like director Steve John, tournament organizers are aware of these issues and provide solutions.

“We’re working with the best of the best to make sure we have a safe environment for all the people, our viewers, the participants, who were very closely connected to make sure something like this doesn’t happen,” John said. “And we are aware of this fact, and we are aware, and we are ready.”

Both sides want people to be able to feel safe and have fun.

“We want everyone, whether it’s an event participant or a member of the public coming to watch the event, to know that the environment is safe and that their safety is of the utmost importance to us,” Boyd. said.

“I think they should be very comfortable, they should be very comfortable coming to Pebble Beach and enjoying the tournament knowing that we are just as concerned about their safety as they are,” John said. “The best and the best work in this tournament. So, yeah, we want to make sure it’s a safe environment for members and spectators, you know, alone.”

The sheriff’s office also informed me that they would apply the same protocols as they had in years past. When people arrive at the tournament, metal detectors and luggage checks will be activated.
