SCPD: Human remains found at Smith Point County Park in Shirley

Suffolk County Police Homicide detectives are investigating after human remains were found on the beach at Smith Point County Park on Monday, March 6.

Smith Point County Park officials called 911 at 1:35 p.m. after a woman told them she had found what appeared to be a human bone. The police responded and found the bone in the sand.

The remains were taken to the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy to establish the cause of death and conduct an identification.
