Scattered storms expected in Central Florida overnight
ORLANDO, Florida. – Temperature Rollercoaster Ride in Central Florida will continue for a week.
A strong cold front that will bring bad weather across the eastern part of the country is expected to arrive in Central Florida late Wednesday evening and Thursday morning.

Before the front begins, heat and humidity will build up, causing temperatures to rise to nearly record highs. Orlando, Leesburg and Melbourne will be very close to record territory on Wednesday afternoon.
As the day approaches, the chance of occasional showers and gusty winds will increase. By evening, the wind is expected to increase to 10-20 m/s, with gusts up to 25-30 m/s.
According to the latest model, expect scattered multiple downpours with occasional thunderstorms to reach eastern Central Florida as the sun sets in the northern counties.
This will also be the time of greatest threat of strong and violent storms. The main areas of increased storm threat will be Marion, Lake, Sumter and Flagler counties.
As the front continues to slide south through the area, it will weaken significantly, bringing sporadic lightning and a rapid streak of heavy rain.
The forecast shows that the line is moving to the central regions by midnight.
The main line is expected to move south of the area by 3am Thursday, with skies clearing quickly by dawn.
Cold air will rush into the region by Thursday afternoon, with highs remaining in the mid-60s on both Thursday and Friday.
Overnight lows will drop into the 30s and 40s across the region, with the most likely frost on Friday and Saturday mornings.
In northern areas, be prepared to cover plants for the weekend.
