Sanitation worker hit in the head with a pipe after chasing a burglar in New York

On Saturday, sources said a nurse was hit in the head with a pipe while chasing a burglar at a sanitation facility.

The 60-year-old superintendent was closing the facility on Saturday at around 11 p.m. in Woodside when he saw a man leaving the office wearing an sanitary vest with a badge on it, sources said.

The worker screamed and ran after the suspect, who grabbed the phone and threw it at him, hitting him on the head.

The suspect in the attack threw off his jacket and fled, sources said.

The victim was taken to the hospital and treated for a head injury. The health service was checking to see if anything had been stolen.
