San Francisco’s Weirdest Film Festival returns to the Victoria Theater this weekend

Perhaps the most famous traveling amateur porn film festival, HUMP! returns to the Victoria Theater in San Francisco with 10 identical screenings from February 10 to 18.

Founded by Dan Savage, the famously rough and acerbic creator of the longtime sex column Savage Love, HUMP! takes the erotic out of the realm of incredibly sculpted bodies and famously gruesome acting. On the contrary, it looks like real people do for real people.

This has been the case since the festival’s debut in 2005. For years, Savage and company traveled to 50 cities with reliable stops in San Francisco, Portland, and Seattle. There, in slightly sleazy art houses like Victoria’s, they showcase low-budget but often polished shorts that celebrate all forms of sexual identity and expression for all body types.

“This year we have received more entries than ever, making it difficult to choose our lineup for 2023,” Savage said in a festival press release.

This year’s list of 22 dirty films includes a cheeky parody of the hypersexual Mr. Potato Head (“It’s Mr. Yamface!”), a black-and-white treatment of the spiritual connections that underpin BDSM culture (“State of Mind”). ”) and an ode to the venerable tradition Hot Girl Summer in (“Crimson Cruise”). It is noteworthy that none of the people depicted are professional porn actors.

Don’t miss Anathema, which complements the whimsical sci-fi game with the story of two interstellar travelers who land on a planet whose inhabitants seem to be trotting. hump! viewers can vote in several categories, including “Best Kink”, “Best Humor” and “Best Show”.

It may seem silly to think that monocles will shatter in 2023. In fact, a sexual panic has gripped the nation, and employees at parent company Facebook Meta have faced credible allegations that they took bribes to squash competitors at adult entertainment site OnlyFans.
