Police try to find a perpetrator suspected of firing blanks at a San Francisco synagogue before brandishing the same weapon at a nearby theater.

According to the San Francisco Police Department, officers called Thursday morning about threats made the night before at a synagogue on Balboa Street.

Police say the caller told them that the man entered the building around 7:20 p.m. Wednesday and said something to the people gathered inside before firing several shots into the air.

The man then left, police said. No harm done.

The SFPD says they believe the same person was involved in a similar incident reported a day earlier, just down the street.

In this case, officers responded around 8 p.m. Tuesday to reports of a man flashing a gun in a theater. The employee said that the man was looking through the goods while brandishing a weapon and, according to the SFPD, also fled from there.

The description of the man’s appearance led the police to believe that the same person was involved in both cases. The SFPD is now asking the public to help find him.
