San Francisco Group seeks to end city’s open-air drug markets

A new movement has begun in San Francisco to remove open drug markets from city streets.

It’s called “Together with Science Fiction” and announced its strategy in front of a crowded room in the Mission area.

It was standing room only for the Wednesday night launch event.

“The priority should be to shut down the drug markets. This is not the stated priority of our city leadership right now, and that is the crux of the problem,” said Kanishka Chong, Executive Director of Together SF.

The group presented their story, blaming the mayor and leaders for failing to deal with the fentanyl drug epidemic that is devastating the city.

Solution: Harm reduction is not enough, law enforcement and recovery programs must also play their part.
