San Diego’s SuperNatural Sandwiches To Reopen Under New Ownership

November 5, 2022

Supernatural Sandwiches shuttered this past summer after a decade of bringing sea to sandwich in San Diego, but the restaurant will soon be revived under new ownership.

Started in 2012 by Tony Nguyen and Anthony Tran, SuperNatural Sandwiches gained a loyal following from its always sold-out weekly farmer’s market appearances at Hillcrest’s Sunday Market. With a menu centered around creative seafood sandwiches, the company opened its first brick-and-mortar location in San Diego’s Miramar in 2014. In 2018, the eatery aggressively expanded and entered Orange County with the opening of a stall within the 4th Street Market food hall in downtown Santa Ana and also launched Supernatural Cocina at Plaza Rio Food Garden in Tijuana. SuperNatural also formerly had a restaurant in Pacific Beach and another at the AV8 Building of luxury apartments at 2155 Kettner Boulevard in Little Italy, which was anticipated to become another TJ Oyster Bar but is now back on the market.

Supernatural Sandwiches Miramar location has been purchased by Andy Hirmez & Kevin Qasawadish, who also own nearby The Pizza Joint. With the sale, the new owners have received Supernatural’s recipes and will bring back many of the brand’s most iconic seafood sandwiches and dishes. They will also introduce a new sushi menu.

Supernatural Sandwiches is anticipated to reopen by year’s end at 7094 Miramar Road, Suite 122, in San Diego’s Miramar neighborhood. For more information, visit supernaturalsandwiches.com.
