San Diego Chefs Compete For Complimentary Restaurant Space

San Diego chefs are battling it at the first-ever “Taste for the Space” competition where a dozen aspiring restaurateurs are competing for a complimentary restaurant space. 

A dozen area cooks competed in the shopping mall’s parking lot today for the grand prize of a restaurant space within the Parkway Plaza Food Court in San Diego’s El Cajon, which includes three months of free rent and a $20,000 business investment. Chefs, food truck owners, and other aspiring restaurant owners were selected after recruitment process to participate in the Taste for the Space culinary competition. 

The 12 local businesses competing include Baghdad Gourmet dessert shop, Blendees Smoothies, Chef Budda Blasian Soul FoodChef Char Seafood & SoulChef Diors CreationsEleazar CateringLa Flamme FrançaiseMia Sorella Chimney CakesRaya’s Sweet TreatsRollin RootsTuggamomma Smokehouse, and Vwayaj Aytiti Haitian food.

Both attendees of today’s event and a panel of area judges will choose the grand prize winner, which will be announced on Visit Parkway Plaza Instagram page by year’s end.
