San Antonio man killed on his birthday in alleged robbery

No arrests have been made in connection with the death of 28-year-old Octavion “Thaya” Hoskins. Anyone with information is asked to respond.

SAN ANTONIO. We’ll learn more about the murder on the northwest side.

It happened around 7:30 pm on Friday, January 6, near the Broadstone Apartments on Medical Drive.

According to police, two men were shot dead. One of the victims, Octavion “Thayee” Hoskins, died from his injuries. He was killed on his 28th birthday.

Hoskins’ death caused devastation throughout the state. His parents live in Michigan.

“His father is in pain,” said Javita Kyle, Hoskins’ aunt. “His mother, his wife, his children, his grandparents; we all hurt”

Oscar Hampton is trying to piece together what happened. From conversations with detectives, Hampton concludes that his son was killed during the robbery.

“They were going to sell the PlayStation,” Hampton said. “From what I was told, the guy who was with my son was selling the PlayStation. He asked my son to go with him because he didn’t want to go alone.”

Police have released some details but say the suspects opened fire and drove away.

“He didn’t deserve to die like that,” Kyle said.

According to Kyle, her nephew was a family man who did everything for his four children.

Hampton cannot believe that he will never see his son again.

“I go fishing, and he calls me and calls me “daddy,” Hampton burst into tears.

The Hoskins family begs for information.

“If anyone in the apartment complex looked out the window and saw something or sat in their cars, please speak up,” Kyle said. “We just want justice for Octavion.”

Anyone with any information is strongly advised to call the San Antonio Police Department’s Homicide Squad at 210-207-7635.

Relatives launched GoFundMe to bring Hoskins’ body home to Michigan.

You can also cash out the Hampton app at $Xman0328.

“That would mean the whole world,” Kyle said. “This will give his parents the opportunity to sit next to him in the cemetery. This would allow his brothers, sisters, grandparents to do the same. It won’t close, but it will bring some relief.”
