HOUSTON. The downtown rodeo parade returns this Saturday as one of the biggest pre-Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo events.

What you need to know before you go

Those wishing to watch the downtown rodeo parade are advised to arrive early to secure a seat on the route. The streets will be closed early Saturday morning for the parade. The full list of closures is below.

The best places to watch the parade are in Louisiana, from Bell to Lamar, Lamar, and Louisiana to Smith, according to parade officials. Below is a map of the parade route.

They also said that Bagby and Walker Streets, from Sabine Street to Bagby, would be closed to the public.

Parade parking is available at Alley Theater Garage, Lyric Center, 1100 Smith Garage, Theater District Parking, Street Parking, Texas and Smith, Smith and Preston, Smith and Dallas, Smith and Clay, Walker and Main.

The Downtown Rodeo Parade starts at Bagby and Walker Streets near City Hall. It then heads east on Walker Street and then south on Travis Street.

The route then travels west on Bell Street and then north on Louisiana Street.

The parade route ends at Lamar and Bagby.

Street closure for downtown rodeo parade

The streets will be closed on Saturday morning, February 25, during the Parade and Rodeo Run starting at 8:30. The streets will open after the completion of events around 14:00.

From 23:59 on Wednesday, February 22 to 14:00 on Saturday, February 25.:

  • W Memorial Ring Road from Memorial Drive to roundabout, private access by parking ticket only.

From 7:00 am Thursday, February 23 to 2:00 pm Saturday, February 25.:

  • Buffalo Bayou car park entrances at Allen Parkway (BUF01-BUF10)

  • North and south curb lanes 400-500 Walker St. between Bagby and Smith streets.

  • The parade takes place on Bagby Street between Lamar and Rusk Street, on Walker Street between Bagby Street and the Sabine Street Bridge, on the Sabine Street Bridge between the Allen Parkway exit and the access road to Memorial Drive, access road to Memorial Drive between Taylor Street and the Sabine Street Bridge. The parade starts at 10 a.m. on Walker Street at Bagby Street, going east, south on Travis Street, west on Bell Street, north on Louisiana Street, west on Lamar Street, and ending at Lamar on Bagby Street. Disbandment at the entrance to Allen Parkway and Memorial Drive.

Rodeo Parade Parking

Public garages in downtown Houston and the Theater District are available to parade spectators. Please be aware that each garage will have its own parking fee.

How to get to the parking lot of the Theater District

  • Exit Scott/Downtown towards St. Joseph or Pease, right down the northbound streets, left onto the Capitol towards TDP.
  • Houston/Memorial exit, right on Memorial/Rusk to TDP
  • Exit Milam, straight along the Capitol to TDP
  • Take I-45 south, exit Dallas, turn left on Dallas to the parking lot.
  • Exit Jackson, right on Congress, left on Milam, right on Capitol to TDP
  • Exit I-10 west onto I-45 south, exit Dallas, left onto Dallas to parking lot.
  • Spur exit 527 towards Louisiana, left on Capitol towards TDP.
  • Exit Polk, left onto Polk, right onto Louisiana, left onto Capitol to TDP

How to get to Walker Parking and Main Street Garage

  • Exit Capitol Street onto Main. Left on Main and right on Walker Street.
  • Accessible from I-10 and I-45 via Smith Street to Rusk, left to Rusk, right to Main, and right to Walker Street.
  • From I-45 south of downtown, follow Travis Street to Walker Street. Entrance to Travis is just off Walker Street.
