Resident Fatally Shot Inside Lawrence Township Residence

Lawrence Township, NJ – A tragic incident unfolded in Lawrence Township in the early hours of August 11, 2023, as a 36-year-old resident of the area was fatally shot inside his home. The Mercer County Prosecutor, Angelo J. Onofri, and Lawrence Township Police Chief, Christopher Longo, expressed their deep concerns regarding the incident.

According to the authorities, the police received a distressing 911 call around 12:30 a.m. on Friday, alerting them to a shooting incident at a residence on Mendrey Court. Officers swiftly arrived at the scene and discovered a male victim in the living room. The victim had been shot in the back and was in critical condition. He was immediately transported to Capital Health Regional Medical Center for medical assistance. Tragically, despite the efforts of medical professionals, the victim succumbed to his injuries a short time later. He has been identified as Anthony Irizarry, a 36-year-old Lawrence resident.

In the wake of this shocking event, the Mercer County Homicide Task Force and the Lawrence Township Police Department have launched a comprehensive investigation.
