Report: FBI expected to search Mike Pence’s Indiana home for classified material

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is expected to search the home of former Vice President Mike Pence in Indiana in the coming days. Wall Street Journal reported.

The Justice Department is discussing the timing of the search with the former vice president’s legal team, the same people said. WSJ. The search comes after law enforcement recently stepped up scrutiny of how government officials handle classified material.

It also came after Pence voluntarily provided classified documents to federal authorities that he discovered at his Indiana home last month. As WSJ noted that Pence’s lawyers said that the discovered documents were “inadvertently packaged and transported and Mr. Pence was unaware of their existence.”

The announcement draws him into the same scandal that has erupted around President Joe Biden after multiple reports showed that 20 to 25 documents were found in Vice President Biden’s office at the Penn Biden Center for Diplomacy and Global Engagement in Washington, D.C. , and in other places, such as his home in Delaware. Following the discovery of the documents, federal authorities have raided two of Biden’s homes in Delaware in recent weeks.

The disclosure of documents from Pence and Biden comes after FBI agents raided former President Donald Trump’s Florida home, Mar-A-Lago, last summer. The FBI ransacked his residence looking for classified materials that the former president may have removed from the White House when he left. During the search, agents reportedly searched Melania Trump’s bedroom and closet. After the raid, some of the FBI material seized included more than 50 empty folders.

A person close to Pence pointed to WSJ that the search conducted by the former vice president’s legal team was “exhaustive” and they do not believe there are any classified documents in his home.

In addition, Breitbart News Washington bureau chief Matthew Boyle exclusively revealed Thursday that a CNN crew was photographed on the street near Pence’s advocacy group headquarters in downtown Washington, DC.

Boyle noted that photographs obtained by Breitbart News “suggest that the film crew may have been awaiting action from the Department of Justice (DOJ) or the FBI in connection with the ongoing classified documents scandals affecting Pence, former President Donald Trump and the current President Joe Biden.
