Rep. Steube says he will be suspended for weeks after falling down the stairs.

Congressman Greg Steub has been discharged from the hospital and is at home recovering from a fall down a 25-foot ladder.

The Florida representative posted a photo of himself on Twitter wear a neck brace.

“While I will be away from Sarasota for several weeks, I will be doing as much of my congressional duties as I can, and our D.C. and district staff remain ready to help Florida residents in FL-17,” Steube wrote.

Last week, a congressman fell while chopping a tree at his home. The person who witnessed the fall reportedly called 911 and Steube was taken to the hospital. He spent the night in intensive care and was discharged a few days later.

Steube’s absence from Washington could make it difficult for Republicans to pass the bills. They have a slight advantage in the House, so every vote counts.

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy said he spoke with Steube and his wife on Thursday. He told the congressman that he would serve on the federal government’s Special Subcommittee on Armaments.

Steube has been in Congress since 2019.
