Reggae Meets Soul Show Brings Him Back to South Florida

SOUTH FLORIDA Postponed two years due to COVID-19, Reggae Meets Soul returns to South Florida on March 18th.

This will be the third production and, like its predecessors in 2018 and 2019, it will take place at the Coral Springs Performing Arts Center. Rhythm and Blues, Russell Tompkins Jr. and The New Stylistics Kashif Lindo and JC Lodge are confirmed acts.

Lindo, a mainstay of the South Florida reggae scene, appeared at the first show.

Tompkins Jr. rose to fame with The Stylistics in the early 1970s, when they were integral to the emergence of Philadelphia soul music. During that decade they worked with songwriter, arranger and producer Tom Bell and Linda Creed on songs such as Golly Wow’s Betcha, Stop, Look, Listen to Your Heart, You Make me Feel Brand New and You’re my Everything.

The unique tenor Russell Tompkins Jr. led the group in these charts.

According to a statement from LTK 20 Records, Reggae Meets Soul has been aware of the South Florida Caribbean community’s love of R&B music since the 1970s.

“South Florida fans are familiar with R&B and vintage reggae, and like everyone else who is familiar with these musical genres, they found them irresistible.”

In the past, The Drifters and The Manhattans have performed at Reggae Meets Soul along with Leroy Sibbles, The Melodians and Nadine Sutherland.
