Pride flag painted on a road in Fort Lauderdale vandalized
FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida. (WSVN) – Someone, possibly driven by hatred, has targeted symbolic artwork in Fort Lauderdale.
The driver of a black Ford F-250 burnt tire marks on an LGBTQ pride flag painted on the road.
The police report also says that the passenger wrote down how he did it.
It happened a week ago on Sebastian Street, between the A1A state road and Seabreeze Boulevard.
Fort Lauderdale Police Chief Lynn released a statement saying, in part, “The Fort Lauderdale Police Department is deeply concerned about this incident. We support our LGBT community and will continue to collect details related to this vandalism.”
A similar incident occurred in Delray Beach in 2021 when a man defaced a street mural with a pride flag.
He was sentenced to two years probation and 100 hours of community service.
