Power outages sweep through Central Florida as severe storms hit

Severe storms have swept through Florida this Tuesday afternoon and evening, prompting the Florida Public Service Commission to diligently track power outages that can be attributed to the inclement weather. As of 6 p.m. on January 9, the following power outages have been reported in Central Florida.

In Brevard County, there have been no reported outages for both Florida Power & Light (FPL) and Duke Energy. Similarly, Tampa Electric and the Florida Public Utilities (FPU) have not reported any outages in Flagler County. In Lake County, there have been 14 outages reported by FPL and 34 outages reported by Duke Energy. Additionally, there have been 149 outages reported by the municipalities in the area.

Moving on to Marion County, FPL has reported 379 outages, while Duke Energy has reported 383 outages. The municipalities in the county have reported a total of 3,476 outages. In Orange County, FPL has reported 3 outages, and Duke Energy has reported 14 outages. Osceola County has experienced one outage reported by FPL and none reported by Duke Energy.

In Polk County, FPL has reported 163 outages, Duke Energy has reported 90 outages, and the municipalities have reported 154 outages. Seminole County has experienced 70 outages reported solely by FPL. Sumter County has reported 268 outages, with the municipalities reporting an additional 1,300 outages. Volusia County has had 63 outages reported by FPL and none reported by Duke Energy.
