Police Tase and Arrest Allegedly Violent, Erratic Individual in East Meadow

The First Squad reports the arrest of an East Meadow man for an Assault that occurred in East Meadow.
According to Detectives, Officers were dispatched to the vicinity of East Meadow Avenue and Gerald Avenue for a male that was displaying erratic and violent behavior.
Upon locating the suspect James Martins, 38, of 2332 Kenmore Street in East Meadow, Officers attempted to talk with the him only to have defendant Martins begin swinging his fists at them.
Officers deployed an Electronic Control Device (taser) to subdue him. One Officer sustained injuries during the course of the arrest as the defendant was violent and combative while resisting arrest.
Defendant Martins is charged with Assault 2nd Degree, Obstructing Governmental Administration 2nd  Degree, and Resisting Arrest. He was arraigned at First District Court, 99 Main Street in Hempstead.
