Police say a man was taken to Life Flight Hospital after he was shot and killed during a family gathering in the west side of Harris.

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – Authorities say a man had to be rushed to Life Flight Hospital after he was shot and killed at a family gathering in western Harris County.

The shooting took place on Bell Ravin Drive near Adelaide River Drive just after 5 p.m. Sunday night, police said.

Police say the shooting took place in the backyard of someone’s home.

The victim was identified as a man in his 50s. He was shot in the stomach and is now in critical condition.

The shooter was detained at a gas station about one and a half kilometers from the house.

Officers say the victim and suspect were not related by blood.

Investigators are working to establish a motive in this case, and a criminal case has been opened against the suspect.
