Police say a man is in critical condition after being shot during a carjacking in southeast Houston.

HOUSTON — An investigation is underway after a man was shot in the neck before his car was stolen from a store in southeast Houston on Wednesday, Houston Police Department officers said.

HPD officers responded to reports of a shooting at a 5 Star grocery store located at 7302 Hurtgen Forest Rd. around 9:32 am

When they arrived at the scene, police said they found a man with a gunshot wound to the neck. The man was taken by ambulance and is in a critical but stable condition, HPD said.

According to investigators, video footage from CCTV cameras shows that the victim drove up in a pickup truck. He went to the corner store and left. He was then seen walking away from his truck as his truck reversed and left the area, police said. Then he collapsed in the parking lot.

Police said there were no witnesses who were physically there at the time of the shooting.
