Police say 1 dead, 2 injured in New York night shooting

Authorities said three people were shot dead in the Big Apple late Tuesday night, including one person killed in Brooklyn.

Filson Andrews, 36, was shot multiple times in the torso and right arm on East 56th Street and Church Avenue in East Flatbush around 9:30 p.m. by a man who then fled, police said.

Andrews was rushed to the Kings County Hospital Center where he was pronounced dead.

motive for shooting was unclear Wednesday morning.

Police described Andrews as “known to the department”, but he was not arrested for more than 15 years.

Around 10:00 pm, a 31-year-old man was shot in the head on Lexington Avenue near East 109th Street, on the grounds of Gov. DeWitt Clinton’s home in East Harlem, police said. At least five shots were fired, according to police sources.

The victim traveled privately to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was said to be in stable condition.

The motive was not immediately known. The victim is also “known to the department,” police said.

About an hour ago, a 28-year-old man was shot in the right leg at 36 Beach Street and the Rockaway Highway, police said.

He entered St. John’s Episcopal Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The circumstances leading to this shooting are also unclear.

No arrests were made in any of the incidents.
