San Antonio Police Officer Hospitalized After Crash Caused by Drunk Driver
SAN ANTONIO — An unidentified San Antonio police officer is currently in stable condition after being involved in a crash believed to have been caused by a drunk driver. The incident occurred on the southeast side of the city, according to authorities.
The officer was responding to a burglary call and had his sirens on while driving through the intersection of Presa and Southeast Military when a dark-colored truck T-boned him. The San Antonio Police Department (SAPD) officials reported that the collision took place at approximately 9:10 p.m. on Friday.
Trinidad Huerta, the driver of the truck, was tested for intoxicants and failed. He was subsequently arrested without incident by SAPD officers. Additionally, a passenger in the truck was also taken to a local hospital for treatment. The injured officer, who has served on the force for four years, is currently in stable condition.
At the scene of the accident, a dark-colored truck with visible damage to its front end and a damaged SAPD patrol unit were observed. Furthermore, authorities discovered at least three other cars along Southeast Military that were believed to have been involved in the crash. As a result, the intersection remained closed for several hours as police conducted their investigation.
