Police investigate car submerged in Lady Bird Lake

Austin police have initiated an investigation into a recently discovered submerged vehicle after responding to a call concerning a shooting at Lady Bird Lake. The police were alerted about the shooting near the Festival Beach boat ramp east of I-35 near Chicon and Nash Hernandez Sr. Rd. at approximately 2:30 a.m. on Monday.

Upon reaching the site, the officers found a vehicle submerged in the lake. While there have been no reports of injured persons, authorities caution that someone may be in the sunken automobile.

Speaking to reporters, the APD watch commander mentioned that the dive team would be mobilized when the sun comes out to investigate the matter further.
