Police ID of a New York City car wash worker killed in a pre-dawn hit-and-run; 2 women are still searching

Two women wanted in a case of hitting a car wash employee in the Bronx who was cleaning his car Sunday morning when he was blind are still on the run, police said.

CCTV footage did not give a good look at the suspects wanted in the crash that killed Felix Bontia, 47, and there is still no description of the two women released by police. Officials identified the Bronx man late Sunday evening.

The video captures the moment a worker at the Speedway car wash on Webster Avenue was sandwiched between the Toyota Rav4 he was cleaning and a suspicious vehicle.

The video shows Bontia wiping down the car – just seconds after leaving the car wash – around 5:30 a.m. The employee is just finishing wiping down one side of the car as the suspect races down the bus lane.

Police were looking for two women wanted in the Webster Avenue hit-and-run case who were last seen fleeing the scene.

Bontia was sandwiched between a Rav4 and a Ford Escape driven by one of the suspects. The force of the impact propelled the Rav4 forward, landing in a completely different direction.

Police said the 58-year-old driver of the Rav4 suffered minor injuries in the collision and was taken to St Barnabas Hospital.

The investigation is ongoing.
