SAN ANTONIO — Police are still looking for the man who gave them a chase across the city early Tuesday morning.

The New Braunfels Police Department (NBPD) initially tried to pull over a suspect on I-35 around 1:30 a.m. for reckless driving. He couldn’t stop and then the chase began.

Police said there were two passengers in the suspect’s car.

The NBPD chased him all the way to San Antonio, stopping once near I-10 to drop off a passenger before crashing into a light pole at East Southcross and Pecan Grove.

After the accident, the driver broke free and ran away. The remaining passenger was detained by the police.

The sergeant says that the man should not be charged with anything as he was only a passenger.

There were no reports of casualties in the accident.

CPS Energy will check the structural integrity of the damaged pile.

Police have not yet located the driver.

This is an evolving story.
