Pick-up truck driver hit and injured 5-year-old Arlington boy and fled the scene, authorities asking for public help in locating him

Arlington, TX – One 5-year-old boy was hospitalized as a result of the injuries he sustained when he was hit by a pick-up truck while riding his scooter.

According to the police report, the incident happened Thursday night around 8 p.m. in the 8400 block of River Bluffs Drive in Arlington.

The witnesses that first responders found when they arrived at the scene said that the boy was riding his scooter on the driveway when he rolled into the street and collided with a pickup truck.

One of the neighbors immediately went to the truck and tried to talk with the driver who fled the scene after a short exchange.

The boy was injured and was transferred to hospital for treatment. The boy is still in hospital, but according to the hospital reports his condition is stable suffering non-life-threatening injuries.

Accidents happen, but it’s different when you drive off and don’t make sure the kid’s OK,” Cecily Spallees said. “That’s not OK. That ain’t right.”

Authorities are still trying to identify the vehicle claiming to be newer model Dodge or Toyota red pickup truck with dark rims.

Despite the fact that they review the nearby surveillance cameras as a part of the investigation, the plate number still remains unknown.

Anyone with information about the incident or more details about the pick-up truck is asked to call the Arlington Police Department and provide details.
