Pelican Brings Authentic Italian Experience to SoBe Restaurant

Did you binge watch the second season of HBO’s The White Lotus and want to go on a little Italian adventure yourself? Lucky for you, we have just the right spot, and believe it or not, you’ve probably driven past it a million times on Ocean Drive.

You don’t need a passport to have your own Italian picnic.

The Pelican Cafe is open again – with a new look, but still offering you the authentic Italian experience – from the chef to the décor.

Andrea Rosso: “We continue to use the original Pelican concept.”

With the hand-picked vintage items surrounding the restaurant, it’s hard to tell you’re still in South Beach.

Dario Gentile: “We want to focus on the experience through food.”

someone said food? It is now a universal language that we all understand.

Chef Wendy Cacciatori: “The signature appetizer is tuna, veal tuna. It’s tuna with cream and veal.”

As in real Italian cuisine, everything is made from scratch.

Chef Wendy Cacciatori: “A burger is an Italian burger. I cook meat with salt, pepper and a secret ingredient.”

Secret or not, you’ll want to eat because it’s all about the tomatoes.

Chef Wendy Cacciatori: “Tomatoes are brought from Naples because they are sweet.”

For the sweet side of the Pelican, you’ll have to take a ride.

Their Ferris wheel dessert is a tantalizing sweetness in Italy.

Diner: “There were six different desserts in my carousel, but my favorite was tiramisu. Tastes really like from Italy. It was wonderful. Lots of chocolate, really creamy, lots of flavor in the mouth. Marvelous!”
