Pei Wei Asian Cuisine, PF Chang Offshoot, Last Remaining San Diego Location Closes Forever

January 11, 2023

Founded by P.F. Chang’s casual Pan-Asian and Chinese Cuisine Pei Wei Asian Kitchen has closed its last remaining location in San Diego.

Founded in 2000 in Scottsdale, Arizona by Chinese bistro P.F. Chang called Pei Wei Asian Diner, a fast food restaurant chain serves Pan-Asian and Americanized Chinese fast food menus. By 2010, the company had 168 offices, primarily in California, Texas, Arizona, and Florida. Pei Wei Asian Diner opened its restaurant adjacent to Westfield Mission Valley in San Diego in 2007. In 2019, the Pei Wei Mission Valley branch closed for several days after San Diego health inspectors discovered a cockroach infestation at the restaurant.

Pei Wei’s office at 1025 Camino De La Reina in Mission Valley closed permanently after the parent company was unable to reach an agreement with the owner of the building. It is not yet known what will occupy the space of the restaurant.
