Pedestrian killed in crash near Riverside

The Austin Police Department (APD) is investigating a fatal accident in E. Riverside.

Police said that on January 10, around 1:58 a.m., officers responded to an accident between a car and a pedestrian in the 2000 block of E. Oltorf Street.

The driver did not stop to help the downed pedestrian, but instead left the area.

According to police, the pedestrian was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries.

The incident is being investigated as the second fatal accident in Austin in 2023, resulting in two deaths in a year. As of the date of this accident in 2022, there were no fatal accidents.
