Pedestrian killed in Cape Coral wasteland

CAPE CORAL, Florida. On Wednesday, a pedestrian was killed in a car collision in a vacant lot in Cape Coral.

Cape Coral Police and Major Accident Investigators responded to the incident at 12:42 p.m. at 616 NW 3rd Avenue.

The car was parked in a vacant lot in the same area. The pedestrian was in the same parking lot, pushing a garden cart behind a car.

The vehicle then reversed off the site and collided with a pedestrian.

After the first impact, the pedestrian fell to the ground and dragged about 30 feet under the car.

The car came to a stop with its back facing the road.

A tow truck arrived at the scene and was able to remove the car from the pedestrian.

Life-saving measures were taken at the scene by the police before the pedestrian was taken to the hospital by ambulance. He was declared dead shortly after his arrival.

The driver of the vehicle was not injured.

The CCPD stated that the incident was not related to alcohol or drugs and the next of kin have been notified.
