Pedestrian Fatally Hit by Several Vehicles on PA’s Route 1 Toll Bridge

MORRISVILLE, PA – In a tragic incident reported yesterday morning, January 11, 2024, at approximately 6:15 a.m., Pennsylvania State Police responded to an incident on the North Bound US 1 Toll Bridge in Morrisville Boro, Bucks County. According to the authorities, a pedestrian was struck by a tractor-trailer while attempting to walk across the toll bridge. The unidentified pedestrian was walking in the center next to the concrete barriers on the northbound side when the tractor and flatbed trailer, traveling in the left travel lane, collided with her. The impact caused the pedestrian to hit the concrete barrier and land in the left travel lane, where she was subsequently hit by two other vehicles. Tragically, the pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.

Efforts to identify the pedestrian have so far been unsuccessful. She is described as a black female aged between 30-40 years old, standing approximately 5’5″ to 5’8″ tall. She had brown eyes and black hair with light brown highlights at the base. At the time of the incident, she was wearing a multi-colored wool winter cap, a black hooded sweatshirt over a blue jacket with the FDR Services Healthcare Laundry Specialist logo on the top right side, black leggings, and black boots. Additionally, she was carrying a small light brown-colored purse. The two drivers who struck the pedestrian after the initial collision may be unaware of their involvement. The first vehicle involved was identified as a white pickup truck, while the second vehicle was described as a dark-colored SUV. The Pennsylvania State Police are urging anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that could help identify the victim and the two vehicles that left the scene to contact State Troopers at Trevose Barracks at 215-942-3900.

The incident has left the community in shock and mourning. The toll bridge, which is a vital transportation route, has seen an increase in accidents in recent years, prompting concerns about pedestrian safety.
