Parker McCollum visits Conroe’s hometown to show goodwill (and dine)

CONROE, Texas – Country music superstar and former Woodlands/Conroe resident Parker McCollum made a special appearance at Raising Cane’s at 2127 W. Davis in Conroe.

Raising Cane’s restaurant in Konro becomes the most popular restaurant in the city.

Hundreds of eager fans, some of whom had camped the night before to take the first places in line, waited in line that surrounded the restaurant and parking lot. As they waited, several Raising Cane employees worked hard outside to ensure the safety and care of the patrons.

McCollum finally appeared across the street and walked along the line, greeting his fans from outside, until he was finally able to make it home. In a good-natured manner to the crowd of media present, he ordered and paid for lunch, and while eating, multi-tasked at the same time, signing some album covers and answering questions.

Afterwards, the staff gave him a tour of the restaurant, and then McCollum playfully donned a headset and—after a crash course—accepted several window drive-thru orders from half-suspect drivers waiting in line. Along with the food, he also gave away dozens of pairs of tickets to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, where he will perform at the opening ceremony on Tuesday night.

McCollum, 31, was born and raised in Conroe. A musical bug bit him early; in elementary school, he learned to play the violin and played in the school band, and later learned to play the guitar at the age of thirteen, when he also began writing his own music. By the age of sixteen, he was playing concerts throughout the area, even while attending Woodlands College Park High School. After graduating, he moved to Austin.

He won Best New Artist of the Year at the 2022 Academy of Country Music Awards and won Breakthrough Video of the Year at the CMT Music Awards the same year for his “To Be Loved by You” video.
