Palm Beach County will have new housing developments for the workforce

PALM BEACH COUNTY, Florida. Finding affordable housing is an ongoing challenge for many South Florida residents.

This week, Palm Beach County began accepting applications for more than 200 new apartments designed to house the workforce.

Resia Pine Ridge is located along South Boulevard near Jog Road.

“This is a welcome addition to have in the area,” said Palm Beach County Mayor Greg Weiss.

Workforce housing is designed to make rent affordable for those earning a certain percentage of the average income in the area.

On the Pine Ride website, one-bedroom apartments are listed at just over $1,700 per month for those who qualify.

That figure is significantly less than the current median rent in the West Palm area of ​​over $2,700 a month for a one-bedroom apartment, according to Rent.com.

“This is something that has been our priority for a long time,” Weiss said, referring to the skyrocketing rental costs in the county.
