Owner of Ravyn Abandons Her, Leaving Her in Need of a New Home | Forgotten Friends

Ravyn, a two-year-old shepherd healer mix, has captured the hearts of animal lovers in San Antonio. She has found herself at the center of the “Forgotten Friends” series, which shines a spotlight on dogs and cats that have been languishing in shelters, waiting for their chance to find a loving home.

Ravyn has been residing at Cash’s Kingdom Animal Rescue in Llano for over a year. Sadly, the shelter is scheduled to close its doors this month, prompting a concerted effort to find homes for all the dogs in their care. Ravyn’s story is particularly heartbreaking, as she was left at the shelter in March 2022 with the promise that her owners would return to take her home. However, they never came back.

Corinne McCann, the owner of Cash’s Kingdom Animal Rescue, recounted the disheartening circumstances surrounding Ravyn’s abandonment. She revealed, “I had an agreement with her owners that they would make every effort to help find her a home, visit her and walk her weekly and supply dog food during the six-week duration I agreed to take her while they were ‘between homes.’ They left $10 to buy dog food and a cage to keep her in. Turns out, they never moved. They never came back one time.”

Corinne further lamented that the owners stopped responding to calls and messages, leaving Ravyn’s fate hanging in the balance. When the shelter reached out once more after a year had passed, the owners made it explicitly clear that they had no intention of reclaiming their furry friend. Shockingly, they even suggested they would abandon Ravyn on a backroad if the shelter refused to take her or if they had to pay a surrender fee.

Despite Cash’s Kingdom Animal Rescue’s efforts to find a suitable home for Ravyn, luck has not been on their side. Ravyn, however, has proven herself to be a sociable and adaptable dog, getting along well with her canine counterparts. As for cats, it remains unknown if she would be compatible.

Corinne McCann has shared her experiences working closely with Ravyn, stating, “She is very smart, responds quickly to training. I’ve been working with her on a leash, and she is learning to walk without pulling, but she does get very excited for the first few minutes.” The rescue owner also commented on Ravyn’s endearing habit of wagging her tail constantly, as well as her occasional moments of exuberance when she leaps into the air, reminiscent of the fictional character Tigger.

Given Ravyn’s energetic nature, she would thrive in a household with older children or active adults. Although crate trained, she is not yet housebroken. Nevertheless, she is described as highly intelligent and affectionate, with an affinity for water activities. Her rescuers emphasize her remarkable resilience, as she continues to radiate joy and love despite the repeated abandonment she has endured.

Furthermore, Lucy’s Doggy Daycare & Spa has stepped forward to support the adoption of Ravyn by offering a complimentary “Glow Up” Day at the Spa, which includes a rejuvenating massage therapy bath and a pampering Pawdicure. This kind gesture echoes Lucy’s commitment to giving back to rescue dogs in need, as Lucy herself was a rescue dog.

It is imperative to remember the life-saving impact of adopting a shelter pet. By welcoming a furry companion into your home, you not only save their life but also create valuable space in shelters to accommodate other animals in dire need.
