One person died in a crane collapse at an elementary school under construction in North Texas

SELINA, Texas. One person was killed when a crane collapsed on a primary school under construction in Selina on Friday, officials said.

The Selina Fire Department (CFD) confirmed the collapse of a crane at the site of the future Dan Christie Elementary School, which will become part of the Prosper Independent School District when completed, and reported one injury.

Prosper ISD confirmed to WFAA that the crane belonged to Pogue Construction.

The WFAA has contacted the company for more information.

On Friday afternoon, the elementary school was approached by several agencies, including the Prosper Fire Department and the Frisco Fire Department Rescue Team, to assist the Selina Fire Department.

The Selina Fire Department said there are currently no details to report and that the incident is under investigation.

The WFAA sent a team to the area to collect more information.

Selina, like other cities in North Texas, was hit by a severe storm Thursday night. At present, it is still unclear whether severe weather contributed to the collapse.
