One arrested after stealing a car at a gym on the southwest side

SAN ANTONIO — One man was arrested Friday morning after he stole a car at a gym and then shot a GPS tracking device inside it, officials say.

Around 7 a.m. Friday, San Antonio police called 3700 Coconino Block for a car theft. Police said a suspect stole a truck from a TruFit gym. The owners of the truck had a tracking device inside, so the suspect tried to shoot the device, but it didn’t work.

The SAPD used an Eagle helicopter to chase the truck and found the suspect.

The suspect was arrested by police and charged with aggravated robbery with a firearm.
