Police said a teacher was arrested on Thursday after he allegedly hit an 8-year-old student at a public school in Queens.
Lashawn Leek, 33, was charged with third-degree assault, a misdemeanor, in connection with an alleged incident at PS48Q David N. Dinkins School in Jamaica, according to the NYPD.
The schoolgirl, an 8-year-old girl, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a Jamaica hospital, police said.
A spokesman for the city’s education department did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
