The race for governor of New York is now a toss-up, according to RealClearPolitics.
The contest between Gov. Kathy Hochul and her Republican challenger, Long Island Rep. Lee Zeldin, had previously been listed as “lean Democrat,” something that a jubilant Zeldin noted on Twitter Saturday.
“We have just 24 days to go until we FIRE @KathyHochul & save our state. It’s not too late for Hochul to come out of hiding & do multiple debates with me across New York, starting immediately!” Zeldin said.

The battle between Hochul and Zeldin continued to tighten, according to a Friday poll from Schoen Cooperman Research showing Hochul’s lead shrinking to just six points.
“It’s a very competitive race,” said Schoen, who has served as a pollster for former President Bill Clinton and three-term ex-Mayor Mike Bloomberg.
